Bio

Vavřinec Hradilek (born 10th March 1987) is a Czech slalom canoeist who won the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and holds two titles of world champion in the K1 event. Born in Prague, Hradilek started competing in canoe slalom when he was ten years old; hist first international success was placing third at the 2004 European Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom Championships. Three years later, he dazzled his home crowd in Troja by winning the 2007 Canoe Slalom World Cup, going on to represent his country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Since then, he kept amassing international successes, including two individual gold medals from ICF World Championships, and two gold medals from team events at both ICF World and European Championships. In 2017, he became the first ever world champion in a new event – Extreme Canoe Slalom.
